What’s Up Wednesday: Gail’s January Inspirations!

Gails for fun_0001

Looking for inspiration? It seems to be a January thing, or a thing when you are creatively blocked. But here and now, it is a sharing thing!

I’m owning this page with my initial :) This is from October Afternoon brand 12″x12″ paper called Neon Lights. Best square on the page!

I’m a thinker and a planner and an idea person. I don’t get around to DO-ing as much as I want to. You might have figured that out from my 2014: Just Make Stuff post LOL

So that means I need inspiration to jump on out of my head, and get some tools and supplies into my hands. Kitchen tools and good ingredients. Crafty tools and colorful yarn, beads, paint, paper. Sewing tools and luscious fabric and buttons.

These are my current inspirations!

Recipes —

Salads are my obsession in January! Fresh and light and crisp after being neglected through the holidays with their heavy, rich, sweet or salty celebrating food.

This salad. It is perfect. Edamame for protein and “tooth,” veggies — mmmmmm, veggies! — and sesame oil in the dressing. It inspires me to chop veggies and eat healthy because the results are worth it!

or this one…

Another salad that just popped up in my Feedly! Here’s some inspiration to shake up those tried and true recipes and ADD APPLES :) And sometimes you need a bit of bacon even when you’re eating healthy ;)

Style —

Cozy Cardigans with Cables. Knitted cables are cool! … and fun … and challenging … and cool… and they are inspiring me to think about more complicated projects that are fun and challenging and cool, and not just knitting cables!

Boots. I love this boot trend. It is inspiring me to … hmm, let’s not use the D word (whispers *diet*) … it is inpiring me to be ready for some skinny jeans so I can enjoy some tall boots next fall!

Love the detail up the back of this style, too… these might be my boot :)

Stuff —

My ScrapRack. This organizing tool and system has me rethinking and getting excited about organizing, storing, and USING my other crafting and sewing supplies. It’s been a slow rev up to speed, but I’m getting there with the first step of painting my family room … ? It makes sense, really!

These Rosemary Le Creuset baking dishes I am about to buy. Embrace cooking for 2, and do it with my favorite color!

People —

My son. Rockin’ the spinach-containing smoothies and declining to eat sweets. Studying art in college because that’s his love, not his paycheck to be (well, maybe!)

Changing Trains, acrylics on canvas

Jane LaFazio. Linda Kittmer. Because they truly do MIXED media: art, fabric, paints, fiber, drawing, photography, teaching, stamping and the list goes on. Fearless creative souls. And they both make Blogspot work which is a miracle in itself.

Lucy at Attic24, because she’s created this home that’s cozy and colorful and fits her family and she loves her life — it comes through in every word she writes. And she’s a rockstar with a crochet hook: check this out! (scroll all the way through!)

I am *I*nspired!

That translates into today’s washing walls in my family room how? Taking breaks for knitting!
