Since Mom posted her sketch last week, I’ve been thinking about all the sketching I used to do. Which was a lot!!
Most of it was forced upon me, lol… guess that’s what happens when you major in Architecture in college.
At first I only wanted to do the really precise drawings like above, because they looked… well, precise. And clean, and controlled!
I was afraid of messy lines! (I still am, haha).
But after a couple of years, I had to give that up. The pure volume of sketching I needed to do for classes and for inspiration didn’t allow that controlled movement.
In fact, after a while I found it refreshing… that those messy sketches of existing spaces could later inspire me in different ways because it left an impression… not just a picture.
Might be time to break out the sketch book again soon!
Bonus points if you can name any of the buildings/spaces in the last set of sketches! ;)
