Marinara

marinara 001

There’s nothing particularly thrilling about today’s post… except that I’m being truthful about what I actually “created” this week… also known as today… MARINARA!  :)

(I also created lots of photos this week… but none of those are done being edited yet, ha!)

(I also am still creating a baby… and this bean, man this bean loves to make me sick… only a couple more weeks of this right?)  heh heh

Anyway… I made marinara because I had three ginormous bowls of tomatoes sitting in the fridge and on the counter… AND we have PLENTY of tomatoes that are still going to come off the vine in the next couple weeks!  (Mom even took some home with her on Tuesday and I still had bunches…)

Canning used to kind of scare me a bit (so many steps, ack!) but I’ve actually really fallen in love with it!  Thanks in part to this book: Food in Jars: Preserving in Small Batches Year-Round.  She breaks it down, has lots of suggestions, and I love that it’s small batches!  I can handle 5 pints!  :)  (Plus, I like variety… next batch of tomatoes is making Rotel-Style tomatoes with her recipe!)

Now… the questions is… when can I open one of these suckers to actually eat it?  It feels silly to can the sauce and then not actually have it sit in the pantry for a bit first.  ;)
