Sweet Dreams, Safe Dreams

Last week, I went to a quilt group that two of my friends have been trying to get me to attend for months. But they meet in the morning, and I’ve been struggling with a nocturnal sleep cycle!  It was great, and I definitely plan to go back.

Once a month, this group sews for charity. I helped tie two quilts, but not only do they make quilts, they also make PJ pants for a local women and childrens’ shelter.

I love sewing up PJ pants! Especially several pairs at a time. So when a bin of already-cut PJs was opened, I volunteered to bring an armful home and stitch them up. It brings the quilter’s technique of chain piecing to a whole new level when you chain piece 10 pajama legs together with your serger :)

But then, I couldn’t just leave them plain. The flannels were all cute prints, but I felt like putting something on each pair to make them a bit fancier, more fun, more interesting… to make them more than just a bit of sewn fabric.

All but one pair are long; one is a pair of shorts. All fabric was donated to the quilting guild.

I have 4 of them finished except for the elastic waist. The embellishments I added aren’t fancy, but just a touch of something extra was all I was aiming for.

By the way, the hover-text shares the details!

I have to admit that pair #5 needs some “reverse stitching” so it didn’t get embellished yet. But its owl print will be jazzed up with a narrow band or two of lime green narrow ribbon.

I wish the recipients of these PJ pants a safe night’s sleep, and sweet dreams!

Gail
