To my darling daughter Samantha and her wonderful husband Aaron, happy anniversary!
I made you an anniversary cake!
(Too bad it is here and not there LOL)
I will pop it in the freezer and bring it with me when I visit you soon!
Have a wonderful day and another wonderful 5 years. You two are amazing together!
Love you both so much!

And now some process photos and a bit of a how-to, just for the fun of it…
To get good dimension from this “stucco” style, you need to work with two full layers of frosting in my experience. Then, avoid any pattern at all.
Glob the frosting on using a small offset spatula and keep that spatula wiped off frequently.
I used a size 12 tip and practiced until I got the feel of how this day’s frosting and my hands could work together to make a “pearl” border… Don’t I keep my frosting toys so very neat and organized?
Before doing any border around the bottom, transfer to a fancy plate using two large offset spatulas, and clean up with a damp paper towel wrapped around a pointy small spatula. That’s what works for me!
Then you might have to clear out some frosting from the bottom 1/4″ of the cake to make room for the “pearls” …
I’m out of practice. This is after removing about every 10th (failed) blob, too. But I’m sure that I’ll be forgiven by Sam and Aaron ;)
One large simple flower for impact. Sam loves stargazer lilies! (OK, one and a half flowers.)
And then a few more frosting pearls…
Happy Frosting, everyone!
Gail
PS Did anyone guess that my facebook post from yesterday (“smellyyyy”) could have been about these lilies? They’re gorgeous, but whew! So strong!
