I’m so excited!! I’m almost 18 weeks through my pregnancy and it is time to start really deciding about the nursery! I want to nail everything down soon so I have plenty of time to paint and replace the carpet and get all the big furniture in place well before baby arrives! I have some pretty firm ideas about my vision for this little space and I think I’m ready to share some of them!
First off, the room color is going to be grey. I haven’t decided on what shade yet, but I did just buy three samples at Sherwin Williams ranging from light to dark, in as neutral a grey as I could find. From there the main vision is to use LOTS of white! White furniture, white accents… in hopes to brighten up the gray and create a simple airy space.
Then comes the COLOR! In two and a half weeks we find out if we are having a boy or girl, and I’ve got ideas for both. For a girl (what I’m hoping we have), I’ll use pops of a coral color. For a boy (what my subconscious thinks we are having), I’ll use pops of an aqua color. For both, I really want to use some bold lime green too!
No matter what the color, the idea is to have very small but bold pops of color!

For the Closet Doors I want to paint chevron stripes in a lighter gray than the wall color and white. One stripe on each of the sliding doors would be one of the bold colors! Here is a great how-to on painting chevron stripes.
For an accent either to put on shelves or hang on the walls I want to make some custom canvas art. I’d love to do something like this but using Dr. Seuss quotes! And maybe a couple with some color pops along these lines.
And maybe it’s because I appreciate a good photo… but I can’t resist these Little Darlings, especially since they are on a white background. I’m getting a couple for sure!
These curtains!! Oh, I love them… light and bright and airy feeling with that color pop I crave! (A project for my new sewing machine perhaps!)
For above the crib I’m loving this alphabet idea! Although, as with our theme, I think I’d paint all the letters white. Except for maybe our baby’s initial… there’s that color pop again!
I’m thinking about getting a shelf that has room for this type of canvas bin. And then on those bins (I’d get them in white) I want to hand stamp some repetitious patterns in simple shapes in light gray and an occasional color!
I think that is enough to start with! My goal is to get the room painted the main color before we find out the gender! So who wants to come help me paint? ;)
I guess my first step should be to finish clearing out that room and getting the sample colors up so I can decide! …maybe I’ll go start that now. :)
