Doodling! Zentangle patterns! Playing around with lines and colors. So much fun for me! Today I bring you just a quick post of some playtime I took during August.
I am fortunate to have a Zentangle Club meeting nearby, once a month. I even remember to go now and then! Sometimes I am just a little schedule-challenged :P
Last month, we had an informal challenge to Zentangle or otherwise doodle something, anything, related to or inspired by nature. I had seen some overlapping leaves a few days before drawing this, and was inspired by their fan-like arrangement. So I doodled this up for last month’s club gathering.
Although these are not fall leaves, Fall season is all about leaves, right? It’s not perfectly done, as is so much of the doodle/tangle work you see on the internet, but that isn’t really my goal when I sit down to create. I just like to put pen to paper and zone out, as intended!
This is the first doodle of mine on which I have done any shading or coloring. I was really tempted to get the rest of my über-pale Copic markers and color away on the whole thing, but stopped myself after doing this bit of experimenting. I particularly liked some of the 3D effects that my warm gray Pitt Artist brush marker added here and there. Except where it looks really bad. If you don’t notice it, well then great! I’ll probably play around more with pale markers, but I don’t really like pencil shading. Yet, anyway!
I’m playing a Wildcard on this September post of our Fall 2015 Challenge. I’ve been a bit under the weather the last few days and am conserving energy to get well instead of create. I’ve got ideas brewing though! As well as some warm spicy tea :) This tea, to be exact — a great low-cal option to those spiced cider packets.
