One of the most festive things is gorgeous green holly with brilliant red berries, and I have some of my very own! Holly and I had a photo shoot this morning :)
Several years ago, I received this gorgeous holly bush for my birthday. One of its wonderful traits is that it grows in a conical shape, so it looks just like a decorated Christmas tree all year long.
In the past, I’ve been known to hop from florist shop to florist shop, begging for holly scraps to decorate a dessert — in particular, a white chocolate cheesecake that is stunning covered in white chocolate shavings and a small sprig of holly in the center.
The only bad thing about holly, and this particular variety is wicked, is the pokey pointy sharp leaves! I decorated my mantle with cuttings a couple of years ago and needed leather work gloves. I needed them equally as much — maybe more! — when I took the cuttings off the mantle a couple of weeks later. Ouchie, but sooooo Christmassy!
Have a festive week! Don’t forget to ONLY do what you ENJOY doing for your home, family, friends, and self… it’s not a competition, especially with oneself. Make sure YOU are having fun, too. So there’s my mom-lecture for the season ;)
Merry Happy!
