Notepad Cover from Library Card Catalog Cards

I’m the happy owner of some old card catalog cards. You know, the kind of library look-up system from before computers. I personally remember them clearly because I’m so… hmm, let’s go with “experienced,” shall we?

I’ve sent quite a few of these off to crafty internet friends, and have been itching to come up with just the right thing for my first catalog card project. Cross that thought with an informal washi tape challenge and here we have my new little notepad holder.

I’m in love :)

My favorite washi tapes.

Green graph paper — double delight!

Torn green paper for some interest inside — another double delight :)

A second life for these obsolete cards.

If you want to make something like this yourself, just cut a thin spine from some cardstock. Make a jig so you can line the cards up nice and straight. That’s the taped down card across the top of my 3 pieces being attached together. Trim the spine, then fold the tape down.

You know I love torn edges, but you could trim. If you have to. Such trouble to go to when the casual look of torn edges work so well with an upcycle project!

I think a heavy-duty stapler with a long reach will go onto my Christmas list this year. One of my fuchsia mini-binder clips works well instead.

I love washi tape!
