This beach-themed card is for a niece-ish young woman whose wedding shower I have to miss today. Just coincidentally, today is World Card Making Day!
Missing the shower made me want to do something a little more special for the card to go along with the honeymoon contribution suggested.
I think a honeymoon contribution shower is a great idea for adults that will be merging households and already have enough stuff! I went to Idaho and Montana on my honeymoon. Hmm.
Definition. Niece-ish: a girl who would be a niece if her dad and my hubby were actually brothers instead of cousins. Just so there’s no confusion.
I dug into my newly organized art and papercrafting supplies and set to work play!
- Make a nice Hawaiian sunset with some pearlescent paints, because doesn’t the idea of a Hawaiian honeymoon just call for shimmery skies and sand?
- Make some ocean water that reaches the horizon and laps onto the sand… (The “laps onto the sand” was the last layer — see it on the finished card. )
- Sparkle up some sand-printed scrapbook paper…
I am liking watercolors and watercolor paper more and more. I really love the shimmery effects from the various pearlescent and metallic paints! You’ve seen it before, you’re seeing it here, and you’ll undoubtedly be seeing more in the future!
Layer it all together and finish it off…
Then the hard part: what to write ;)
Happy Hawaiian dreams to Brandi and her hubby-to-be!
Now to make a card for my mom’s birthday today… are you making any cards for World Card Making Day?
