A couple past locker hooking projects I love.
What? You’re not ready to think “pumpkins” yet? I always am!
This shading took more than 12 orange shades of fabric.
Although there is no written pattern for the pumpkin, it is an original design worked on 5 squares per inch mesh, with 3/4″ torn fabric strips..
It was drawn as I worked it, inspired by several pumpkin photos.
Movement and texture — it’s all about the direction of “stitching,” and sneaky use of fabric prints and raw edges.
Hot pad “X Markes the Spot” original pattern; used for a class teaching example.
On one half, I worked all the raw edges of the torn fabric strips under…
On the other half, I let the raw edges curl and turn …
It is easy to get creative with this fabric-hungry craft — locker hooking is one of my faves!

Nancy Drummond - I was just wondering what you use for your twine, for locking. I would like to buy my twine in bulk, as I don’t really like the pre cut twine, but i don’t know what to order.
I love locker hooking, and hope you can help me with this question08.02.2014 – 5:51am
admin - Nancy, at the top of this post you can see what I use for my locking medium! I bought a jumbo cone of natural cotton yarn. It is very economical, and you can run two strands if you want a puffier filling under your loops. I like my locker hooking to be 100% cotton if I am going to be using it in the kitchen — nothing to melt ;) It is this product from Lion Brand yarns. I bought it at Jo-Ann with a coupon! http://www.lionbrand.com/6030/PictPage/1332834.html –Gail08.02.2014 – 12:28pm
Nancy Drummond - Thank you so much for the info. I went to the web sight you gave, and discovered it was on sale for half price, so I ordered 2! Now I don’t have to be bothering with the precut stuff. this yarn will be perfect for my next project.08.02.2014 – 2:32pm
