Get Linked! China Adventures

I’m leavin… on a jet plane…

(was that enough to get that song stuck in your head? because it is stuck in mine!)

I really am leaving, on Monday, for… CHINA!!!  Hubby’s been working there on and off for the last few months, and I get to go with him on this trip!  I’m so stinkin excited I can’t even describe it!  I’ve been overwhelmed with preparing and packing so today’s post stems from that.  :)

Here goes…

Tips for Traveling in China… I think the best was be wary of those who approach you trying to speak English, “most Chinese are shy and will not speak to you unless you speak first.”

Know when not to tip in China… which is basically never, although a couple places I saw said that was changing due to all the tourists since the Olympics.

The Weird Thing this couple does on vacations… which is going to be forced on us because hubby will have to work while we are there.

Must-Haves for your Carry On Bag

My BEAUTIFUL Carry On… keeps my camera gear safe while still being stylish!  :)

We fly in to Beijing and get to spend a couple days and then take one of these to Xuzhou.

The popular attractions I’m most excited to see:

Great Wall

Terracotta Army

Forbidden City

I’m looking forward to the Forbidden City the most, and the Great Wall, and… oh sheesh… I’m looking forward to them all!!  My architecture history classes have prepped me, in fact my thesis to graduate included the Great Wall, but we won’t get into that here.  Let’s just say I’m trying to appreciate these great places not because they are popular tourist destinations but because they truly do play a large role in Chinese culture and history.   I can’t wait to get a little glimpse at something so different!

Oh, and to top it all off… it’s definitely not tourist season… due to this:

90 and Thunderstorms.  Yikes.  I’ll make do.  :)

I’ll still be posting while I’m gone so I’ll try to sneak some photos in when I can :)
