Crochet: Try it, Give it

Crocheting is a great project to take on a trip. One tool: crochet hook. One substance: squishable, packable yarn. Directions: online, printed page, booklet… as minimal as you choose. Cutting device can be anything from nail clippers, fancy yarn-cutting pendant, or my favorite: Children’s blunt-tip Fiskars scissors – they don’t poke holes in your bag, they pass airport security, and they’re easy to find in your supplies.

I always have techniques I want to try out, and small projects are great ways to do so; you’ll hear this from me endlessly :)  I thought some crocheted newborn hats would let me try a couple new things with the added benefit of donating them after I was finished. I don’t yet know where in my area I can give them, but I’ll find somewhere! Meanwhile, I get to try making stripes in the round with double crochet, and spiral striping!

One cap done, one underway!

Staying cool and creative in Arizona! (One of which is true.)

  • Meighan - I would love to see step-by-step tutorials on both of these projects with photos! That spiral in particular is really beautiful!12.10.2013 – 10:16pmReplyCancel

    • admin - Meighan, that’s something I’d love to do, although they are out there in the interwebs already, too. I’ll look forward to a little crochet technique post in the New Year (thanks for giving me permission; Sam discourages me from tutorials ;) )12.11.2013 – 12:45pmReplyCancel
