I thought I would start off the first post in ‘The Paper Pile‘ category with a picture of a paper pile! I chose these bright summer colors for a little invitation I created. I love making cards and invitations, but sometimes I fail at doing them because I tend to invite people to things via email or facebook. While convenient I’ve started to feel like some of the hype and excitement gets lost in translation… so I’ve come up with a new solution! Make the invitation, take a picture of it and then use that picture via email and/or facebook for the invite! Still has the convenience factor, but you get that personal touch and, in this case, some bright colors to grab your attention and make you think SUMMER!
My college friends and I have been talking about having a little get-away weekend for a while now (basically since we got out of college 3 years ago) and the time has finally arrived! Hubby’s family has a little cabin on the canal here (lovingly called Beach Bottom) and we’ve reserved a weekend to bring all our friends! We are going to do pulled pork in our smoker, drink some margaritas, lay in lounge chairs, do some swimming, play cards and relax!! I can’t wait!
So what do you think? Does it grab your attention and make you think summer fun? I have lots of details to tell my friends, but since I am still going the email route I figured I can just type out that info after I grab their attention with this! As for the making of this card, other than the colors I did not have a plan going into it, I just created as I went. I started with the pinwheels because I had just seen them in a scrapbooking magazine somewhere and thought they were super cute! Did the text on the computer and printed on cardstock. Played with my corner punch/embosser. Doodled at the top with my fave Glaze pens. And layered layered layered those colors!!
